LOW BUY YEAR 2024. 10 Things I’m not buying this year

Purpose:

  • To reduce the amount of consumption in our family

  • Pay down credit card debt

  • To save money for a nice long vacation

  • Fund back our emergency fund

  • Max out profit sharing, 401k and IRA Accounts

Hi you! Thank you so much for stopping by and spending a few minutes of your time. I promise I won’t take much of it. After reading A LOT about minimalism and purposeful consumption. I have decided to make my first ever post about Low Buy Year. I have searched tons of videos on no buy/low buy year and rather that doing a video myself, I have gathered useful information that may benefit you as well.

First thing I did was to work on my net worth. I will be writing just on this, but from there I can see where my priorities are in terms of my financial health. Then, I created a reasonable budget based in our needs and wants. This certainly will be a challenge for me but here is a list of the 10 things that I will be more mindful consuming this year:

  1. CLOTHES AND SHOES- I’m sure I have plenty in my closet to work and play with.

  2. BAGS- With 2 kids, for the past year I lived on a $50 amazon diaper bag (The life of a Mom)

  3. NO HOME DECOR- I learned that less is always more and less things to clean.

  4. NO SKINCARE- Unless I’m replacing a bottle with the exact same one. The Sephora bills can add up (Trust me!)

  5. NO HOUSE PROJECTS- As much as I want a Kitchen Island, that will have to wait a little longer.

  6. NO MORE TOOLS -No more trips to Home Depot

  7. ONE EATING OUT A MONTH- Let’s see if I can keep this up

  8. REDUCING OUR GROCERY SHOPPING BILL- This is probably the biggest expense everyone have besides rent and mortgage.

  9. ALCOHOL- It has no benefits to our bodies and with age, we can certainly feel the damage it does to us.

  10. LIMITS ON AMAZON- This one is hard, because it is one click away from infinite things. But I will reduce this to only 5 orders a month. I will keep things in my cart for as long as I can hold them.

I can go on and on about writing on the benefits of consuming less but I hope this post help you to become aware when spending your hard earned money. I will be giving you guys update every end of the month if I can keep my promises. One of the reasons I created this blog is to make myself accountable, and you are more than welcome to join me to keep each other accountable. Talk to you soon!
